This Birkenhead venue is paving the way for new local talent

Merseyside definitely has a richness for great music, but Birkenhead has always been in the shadow of Liverpool despite producing the likes of Greg Wilson and Miles Kane.

The new music venue in the heart of Birkenhead town centre on 75 Argyle Street, Future Yard, is providing a space for live music on the Wirral and making a name for itself amongst locals whilst doing so.

Future Yard was established within 2019, despite not having the most successful first year in business due to the pandemic although, the guys at the venue put on a collection of socially-distanced shows titled 'Near normal' which saw artists such as Pixey, She Drew The Gun and All We Are play to a virtual audience.

Future Yard states: "This new community venue will bring some of today’s most exciting new national and international artists to Wirral, while at the same time providing key early performance opportunities for emerging local musicians."

Not only does the venue host local talent within their outdoor garden and gig space but they also serve delicious vegetarian, vegan and gluten free food from a Volkswagen Type 2, how funky!

Olivia Ryan, 21, is a hospitality worker from the Wirral, discussed what she thinks of the venue: "Its lovely to see that more venues are opening up within Birkenhead, its kind of a shame really that theres not more music places like Future Yard on this side of the water".

They're even hosting their own festival with a variety of local talent such as The Mysterines and Zuzu on the 3rd of July, so get yourselves down and listen to some good tunes.

You can stay up to date with the venue or if you're a local musician, get in touch with them by following their Instagram @Future_yard
